The Museum created from Frederick Stibbert (1838-1906) constitutes a rare example of nineteenth-century museum of acclimatization: the preparation of every knows was studied it in order to evoke the atmosphere of the age and the places of origin of the works, and the restructure of the villa of Montughi was entrusted to the greater architects and decorators of the time who realized one house-museum of great suggestion.
Stibbert was man of great culture and skillful financier, that it exercised a determining role on the market European antiquarian. The collections reflect its interest for the history and the customs of various people and comprise crews, armors, customs, painted objects of furnishings and applied art, tapestries and from the 1500's to the 1800's.
