In the Cappellone of the Spanish it frescoes it of Andrea di Buonaiuto (of 1367-69) celebrate the fight of Dominican against the heresy for the salvation of the humanity, culminating with the famous allegoria of the militant Church and triumphant. The nails head of the Chiostrino of the dead men conserve fresco trecenteschi of the bottega of the Orcagna.
The Nail head of the Drunks and the ancient Refectory accommodate just from 1983 the true Museum and, only example to Florence of collection of conserved and exposed sacred art on the whole of pertinenza. The choice collection of precious woven, embroiderys, lignee, oreficerie sculptures testifies the original wealth of the Treasure of the basilica: they signal the rare Reliquiario of the Title of the Cross (secc. XIII-XIV), the Reliquiario di San Domenico (secc.XV-XVI), and the Wall of Saint Tommaso di Canterbury (sec.XVI). |
